Peter H. Gorman, M.D.
Dr. Gorman is an associate professor of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is the Chief of the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Hospital where he is also the director of the Spinal Cord Injury Service.
Dr. Gorman's main research interests are in the field of spinal cord injury medicine. He is currently the principal researcher in a study investigating the use of robotic treadmill training in persons with incomplete spinal cord injury. He continues to participate in numerous pharmaceutical trials, and previously was a co-investigator in a study that led to the approval of a neuroprosthetic functional electrical stimulation device to restore hand function in persons with tetraplegia. Dr. Gorman also closely collaborates with several Shock Trauma investigators on clinical studies of new acute management approaches in traumatic spinal cord injury.
Clinically, Dr. Gorman specializes in taking care of persons with spinal cord injury and/or disease. His practice includes inpatient acute rehabilitation and outpatient longitudinal care, management of spasticity with botulinum toxin injections and implanted baclofen pumps, and electromyography. He sees patients both at Kernan Hospital and at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.
Dr. Gorman is associate residency program director of the Sinai/University of Maryland Residency Training Program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Glenn J. Kehs, M.D.
Dr. Kehs is an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and is the director of the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Kernan Hospital.
Dr. Kehs received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University and served a Neurology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital. He completed a neurologic rehabilitation fellowship at Braintree Hospital in Braintree, MA.
Dr. Kehs' interests include neurorehabiliation, stroke and aphasia. He is board certified in Neurology and Neurorehabilitation.

Michael Makley, M.D.
Dr. Makley is an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also the director of Kernan Hopsital's Traumatic Brain Injury Unit.
Dr. Makley received his medical degree from Ohio State University where he also completed a residency in Neurology. He received further training in internal medicine and completed a fellowship in neurorehabilitation at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Makley's areas of special interest include traumatic brain injury and spasticity. He is board certified in Neurology and rehabilitation.

Richard B. Peters, M.D.
Dr. Peters is an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and a Neurologist on the Traumatic Brain Injury unit at Kernan Hospital.
Dr. Peters received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Neurology at Georgetown University Center, Washington, D.C., and a clinical fellowship in EMG and neuromuscular diseases at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Peters is board certified in Neurology. He provides medical/neurological care to brain injured patients undergoing acute and chronic rehabilitation at Kernan Hospital. Dr. Peters also conducts a general Neurology and an electromyographic outpatient clinic at Kernan.

George Wittenberg, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. George F. Wittenberg is associate professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Previously, he was the director of the rehabilitation program within the Department of Neurology at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.
He obtained his doctorate degree in Biology at the University of California, San Diego, in 1991 and completed medical school in 1993 at the same university. Dr. Wittenberg had further clinical and research training at Washington University, St. Louis, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His clinical interests are in neurorehabilitation, stroke, and movement disorders. He sees both inpatients and outpatients at the VA Medical Center and Kernan Hospital. Dr. Wittenberg has specialty interest in the management of spasticity with Botulinum Toxin and with Baclofen Pumps.
