Dr. Hasan specializes in all problems relating to the shoulder and elbow, including reverse shoulder arthroplasty and traditional total shoulder replacement, elbow replacement surgery, minimally invasive operations such as arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and arthroscopic stabilization procedures for the recurrent dislocating shoulder. Other areas of clinical expertise include elbow arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, fracture fixation and post-traumatic reconstruction of the shoulder and elbow, as well as nerve decompression.
After receiving his medical degree from Georgetown University, Dr. Hasan completed an orthopaedic residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship in Northern Virginia. After four years in private practice, Dr. Hasan pursued a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and also has a sub-specialty certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Hasan's research interests include basic science investigation of rotator cuff healing, computer-aided navigation for shoulder replacement surgery, rotator cuff repair techniques and elbow surgery outcomes.
