Kernan offers a series of classes and support groups that are open to patients, caregivers and the community. Classes focus on prevention and wellness, while support groups are specifically tailored to the specialized needs of patients who have undergone a life changing event and rehabiliation process.
Classes are offered through The Center for Integrative Medicine. For information on a specific class, including time, cost, and registration, please select one from the list below:
Prana Yoga -
Thursdays, 4-5:15 p.m..
For those of you new to Prana Yoga, "prana" means life force, often referred to in other cultures as "chi" or "ki". The word "yoga" means union. The awareness of the two in a yoga class helps bring the body and mind to a place where it is possible to experience the subtle flow of energy through and around the body. The use of yoga postures, breathing and sound help create an intense and meditative experience, which can reduce stress and allow the body to feel strong and restored.
Qi Gong - Wednesdays, Noon-1 p.m.
Tai Chi -
Tuesdays, 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Tai Chi is a potent exercise for health and self defense. Regular practice improves muscular strength, flexibility, and overall fitness.
*Please Note: Patient/Family Education classes are only available to Kernan patients and their families.
