John C. Mahoney, PT

John Mahoney, P.T.

Mr. Mahoney is a physical therapist who serves as clinical director of all Kernan Physical Therapy sites and related programs in Maryland. In addition to working to develop a multi-site system of outpatient care, Mr. Mahoney's career has included adjunct clinical instructor affiliations with numerous university-based physical therapy training programs.

Mr. Mahoney is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Physical Therapy. As a consultant and a clinician, he has a distinguished reputation in local, regional and national arenas. His clinical skills have been sought out from varied sources that range from local home health agencies, to the Maryland State Police to the Royal Family of Saudi Arab ia. He has served as personal therapist to multiple nationally and internationally renowned sports figures. He is committed to the philosophy that wellness is a way of life and has developed clinical therapy regimens that dovetail with gym-based and community-based exercise programs. As an extension to this approach, Mr. Mahoney hgas worked with several area health clubs to sponsor walk-in sports injury clinics-an opportunity to "ask the expert"


Peter Backe, MSPT

Pete graduated from Long Island University in Brooklyn in 1992. He joined Kernan Hospital upon graduation and transferred to the Woodlawn location in 1995. Pete has a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions of the extremities.


Janice L. Bowie, P.T. MS

After receiving a Bachelor's degree from Morgan State University and instructing secondary physical education in the Baltimore City Public school system for 5 years, Janice pursued a Physical Therapy degree for the University of Maryland School of Medicine and graduated in 1976 with an additional Bachelor's degree. She received a Masters degree from Morgan State University in 1979. Janice currently serves as an adjunct professor at Morgan State University since 2002. Janice joined the Kernan Physical Therapy staff in June 2006 with a particular interest in eclectic manual approaches to soft tissue rehabilitation, wellness and fitness programs. She enjoys skiing, tennis, volleyball, vocal music, hand and west coast swing dancing, zydeco and salsa.


Ken Chrivelli, MA,PT,SCS, ATC

Ken graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1978, receiving both his Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy and his Athletic Training Certification. He received his MA in Instructional Systems from UMBC in 1983. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy which he received in 1987 from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He serves as an adjunct professor at Howard Community College. He joined Kernan Physical Therapy in 2005 and has been involved in sports medicine and orthopedic physical therapy for his entire career. Ken enjoys treating musculoskeletal conditions of the spine and extremities.


Larry Gallagher, PT

Larry graduated from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in 1986 and joined the staff of Kernan Hospital treating both acute care and out-patient populations. He began specializing in out-patient orthopaedics and moved to the Woodlawn facility when it opened in 1993. Larry enjoys treating all orthopedic conditions of the spine and extremities.


Jeffrey Jones, MPT

Jeff graduated from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in 1997. Jeff joined Kernan Physical Therapy in 2004. He has a special interest in orthopaedic conditions and manual therapy.


Greg Pirivolidis, MPT, OCS

Greg received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 1993. He joined the staff of Kernan Physical Therapy in 2003. He became a board certified orthopaedic specialist after passing the Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist Exam in 2004. Her enjoys tennis and likes treating musculoskeletal injuries of the shoulder.
