Specialty Upper Extremity Splinting and Bracing Program

supportive bracing after orthopedic surgery

We provide specialty upper extremity splinting in our Outpatient Ortho and Neuro Occupational Therapy Departments for patients with a variety of diagnoses. Our Occupational Therapists make a variety of specialty orthoplast splints, including static splints for positioning, postoperative supportive bracing after orthopedic surgery, static progressive splinting for joint mobilization, and dynamic splinting for various tendon and nerve repairs/injuries. After receiving a physician’s order for services, our experienced team of Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists evaluate the patient’s needs and fabricate the splint or brace. We then educate the patient about care, wear, and any precautions associated with the splint.

We have easy access to the building, with curbside drop-off, extra wheelchairs and scooters available for use at the front entrance. Please note that we require a physician’s referral and insurance authorization for Occupational Therapy services. For further information or to arrange an appointment, please call 410-448-6421 for patients with neurological disorders such as stroke or brain injury and 410-448-6421 for patients with spinal cord or orthopedic disorders.
